Participatory Budgeting Committee💲
Our participatory budgeting steering committee is all about putting budgeting decisions in the hands of young people. In this cohort, you’ll meet with a collective of young people to help determine how Next Up will spend a portion of our budget.
what is participatory budgeting
Participatory budgeting (PB) is a democratic process where community members allocate a portion of a budget with a binding vote. PB delegates real power over real money to community members to propose, develop, and vote on solutions.
Next Up launched our first internal participatory budgeting process in 2022 in order to have community members decide how to spend $10,000 of our yearly budget. Each year we relaunch this process and recruit a youth-led steering committee.
